Treasure hunting for adults

Whenever I have a free Saturday morning, or afternoon, I love to go to my favorite junk shop about 30 minutes from my home.  "Tiede's" - owned by Karl and Beulah, with help from daughter Karmen - is only open on Saturdays.  They have 4-5 storefronts - all connected - on the main street of this delightful, tiny town.  It is like going to THE most amazing garage sale.  Everything is sorted, organized, categorized, tagged, and clean. They have everything from screen doors to screwdrivers.  Tea cups and toasters.  Paperbacks, Pyrex, salt and peppers, and pot holders.  Minnow buckets and milk glass. Yarn to yardsticks.
Sometimes I go looking for something in particular.  Most times I just go with a sense of adventure and the knowledge that I will find something unexpectedly wonderful.
Today I asked Karl if he minded if I took some photos.  So, with his permission, I'll share with you just a teeny bit of their collection.  Today, I bought a great little book on Health & Physiology from 1889 that has some great graphics in it, three linen tea towels - old, but never used, and a Wearever lid from an old pan that my family uses for making our traditional coffee cake.  It HAS to be made in that particular pan.  I think I have four now.

So - to my fellow junker fans - enjoy the photos!  Wish you could come explore with me some time!

  3. So, I'm reading your blog in reverse, to get caught up. I knew where you were the second I saw those pics. Amazing place to just drift through. :)
