Kearney Dawn Rotary club is sponsoring Cranes on Parade II, the second public art project featuring 6 foot tall fiberglass crane sculptures. Martha Pettigrew designed both sculptures, which have been "decorated" by local artists. This "Red Bird Rising" is my artistic contribution to this project.

It is displayed at Contemporary OB/GYN, on the corner of 1st Ave. and 24th Street in Kearney.

I like the way this turned out. I used many layers and colors of acrylic paint. I loved the actual texture of the surface, so I tried to accentuate that texture with the layers of colors.

There are 16 works this time, with Cranes on Parade II.
